Shopping Network’s iBuyTV puts Microsoft Navision to the test in successful
launch of new shopping channel
Anglia
Business Solutions today announces that iBuyTV, the first UK shopping
channel to be launched by US-based Home Shopping Network (HSN), has
successfully deployed Microsoft Navision as the back-end business management
solution for its new TV auction home shopping channel.
iBuyTV was launched on Sky TV Channel 631 and NTL
Channels 23 and 115 earlier this year and has already exceeded expectations.
The Microsoft Navision solution, implemented by Anglia Business Solutions,
is used to collect and track all information associated with each auction
participant. This information includes; contact details, products purchased,
date and time of the transaction, cancellations, payment details. This
provides iBuyTV with full visibility and traceability of every transaction
at any given time. The Microsoft Navision solution also handles real-time
inventory management and the live auction scheduling process allows only
items that are in stock to be scheduled for auction.
Warehousing, fulfilment and returns for iBuyTV are
outsourced to The Royal Mail. The MBS Navision solution provides for
authorised Royal Mail personnel to collect purchase order, despatch and
invoicing information remotely from the system using Terminal Services. The
system is also accessed by call centre operations in Northern Ireland and
Manila via a fully integrated bespoke web based system, to carry out order
confirmation and real-time payment processing.
John Watson, Chief Operating Officer for The Home
Shopping Network, who has had a hands-on role in the new channel, says “This
is an exciting project for HSN, our first UK shopping channel. It was
important that we got things right first time and that included our IT
infrastructure and business systems. The flexibility and functionality that
we have with our Navision solution has enabled us to seamlessly communicate
with our business partners giving us extremely efficient operational
procedures.” Watson continues, “In the three months since the channel
launched we have auctioned 37000 items. Every single item is totally
traceable via our Navision solution. As with any new business, first
impressions are important and our back office systems must provide a slick
and efficient customer experience.”
David Hurley, Managing Director for Microsoft Gold
Certified Partner Anglia Business Solutions comments, “Anglia has been
deploying Microsoft Navision solutions for 8 years. However this was one of
our first implementations using the recently released version 4.0 software.
We worked very closely with the iBuyTV project team to deploy a solution
that exactly matched their chosen business processes and were able to
utilise much of the new role-based user functionality available in the new
version. We are pleased that the launch of iBuyTV has been so successful and
that the IT solution made a valuable contribution. We will continue working
in partnership with them to ensure that their business management system can
accommodate the future growth of the business.”
